College of Coastal Georgia has appointed Kay S. Hampton as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs.
Hampton, who spent 25 years working in various capacaties at CCGA before she retired in September 2015, will be returning to the college on July 5 to serve in her new position, according to a Tuesday press release. She previously served as interim vice president for academic affairs in 2014. She has also been the director of career and technical education and an associate professor of nursing at CCGA.
“Kay will be a great addition to the leadership team. She possesses a depth and breadth of institutional memory and will provide a smooth transition for the office of academic affairs,” said outgoing CCGA president Greg Aloia in the press release. “She is a well-respected and prominent leader in the Golden Isles community, serving on a number of boards and committees. She has extensive experience in higher education, management and leadership. I’m very pleased that Kay will fill this role.
In addition to her career at CCGA, Hampton has served with the United Way, Glynn County Crisis Center and the American Heart Association. Recently she was also elected to the board of Southeast Georgia Health System.
“While I have been enjoying the freedom of retirement, I am happy to have an opportunity to return to the College of Coastal Georgia. To work once again with the outstanding faculty, college leadership team and staff is exciting,” Hampton said in the press release. “Providing opportunities for students to transform their lives through education is our responsibility. Being a part of the team making that possible is challenging, and I look forward to those challenges.”
Before her career in education, Hampton worked as the assistant director of nursing and as education and medical units coordinator at the Redmond Regional Medical Center in Rome.
Hampton has degrees from Georgia Southern University and Georgia Southwestern College, and has a diploma in nursing from Orange Memorial Hospital.
