College of Coastal Georgia was recently recognized as one of the country’s best institutions for veterans. “Military Times” placed CCGA on its list of “Best for Vets” colleges for the third consecutive year. CCGA ranked No. 5 in Georgia and No. 70 in the nation.
“Of the hundreds of schools that applied, fewer than half received the Military Times Best Colleges designations this year,” said Georgia Altman, the “Military Times” editor in charge of the rankings, in a press release. “Only the best made the cut.”
More than 600 colleges participated in the “Military Times” annual survey, which serves as a comprehensive school-by-school assessment of veteran and military student services and rates academic achievement.
Colleges and universities document services, special rules, financial incentives and accommodations offered to students with military ties and describe aspects of veteran culture on campus.
CCGA provides a Veterans Services staff that aims to engage all veterans in campus-wide programs and activities that enhance their college experience and advance their educational goals.
The college serves a diverse group of military personnel, their family members and veterans with disabilities. Students from all branches of the armed forces, including active and inactive reserve units, attend CCGA.
CCGA offers resources at both the Brunswick Campus and Camden Center. These include veterans’ study lounges, as well as the student organization, Veterans Academic Learning Opportunities and Resources, also known as VALOR, which supports the college’s veterans.
