Paying for College

The College of Coastal Georgia is one of the most affordable institutions on the southeast coast.

Estimated direct costs are costs that are paid to the College, such as tuition, fees, meal plans, and on-campus housing. We encourage 15 hours per semester to graduate in four years. Tuition costs will vary based on the number of credit hours in which you enroll. Twelve or more credit hours is considered full-time enrollment.

All freshmen living in a residence hall must select a dining plan. Books are not included on a student’s invoice. However, since students usually purchase books for class, we included an estimated amount to assist when estimating the cost of attendance. All amounts provided are based on 2023-2024 costs and are subject to change for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Financial Aid is typically awarded and available within a month or two of the release of the new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). To see a complete listing of the Cost of Attendance and its meaning, click here.

The schedule of tuition and fees has been authorized by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. The schedule is subject to change prior to each semester. Early registration is not valid unless tuition and fees are paid by the specified date.

Border State Residents

The College of Coastal Georgia now offers the equivalent of in-state tuition to all residents of Alabama, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Tennessee, who meet the requirements for admission. Admitted students may apply for the Border State Waiver online by selecting the “Student Forms” tab located in the MyCCGA portal. The Border Waiver request is in the “pre-Enrollment” folder.

Florida Prepaid College Plan

College of Coastal Georgia accepts your Florida Prepaid College Plan; however, the owner of the account is responsible for initiating the payment and making sure Florida Prepaid knows where they are attending school. This will allow you to receive Florida Prepaid College Plan credit prior to the fee payment deadline, which reduces your out-of-pocket cost. The amount the Florida Prepaid College Plan covers depends on the plan a parent/student has.
- Restricted Plan: Pays a specific dollar amount per credit hour and any balance due is paid by the parent/student if no financial aid award is present.
- Unrestricted Plan: Covers all tuition and fees up to the total plan value. Any remaining balance due is paid by the parent/student if no financial aid award is present. Keep in mind this option will deplete your Florida Prepaid account at a much faster rate.

Nonresident Student

As of the first day of classes for the term, a nonresident student can be considered for this waiver under the following conditions:

If the parent or U.S. court-appointed legal guardian of a dependent has maintained domicile in Georgia for at least 12 consecutive months and the student can provide clear and legal evidence showing the relationship to the parent or U.S. court-appointed legal guardian has existed for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the first day of classes for the term (legal guardianship must be established prior to the student’s 18th birthday).
If the student can provide clear and legal evidence showing relations to the spouse and the spouse has maintained domicile in Georgia for at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the first day of classes for the term.

Economic Advantage

If a student or his or her parent/legal guardian or spouse relocated to the state of Georgia during the 12 months prior to the beginning of classes in order to accept full-time, self-sustaining employment, and has established domicile in the state of Georgia, they may qualify for a temporary waiver of out-of-state tuition while establishing residency. A student who is given this waiver will still need to complete the full residency petition in order to be permanently re-classified as a Georgia resident after the 12-month timeline has passed.

Both of these forms, the Economic Advantage temporary waiver form and the Petition for In-State Tuition form for those who have already established residency for at least one year, are available by visiting the “Student Forms” tab located in the MyCCGA portal and navigating to the “pre-Enrollment” folder.

Presidential and International Waivers

American students from non-border states or international students may qualify for in-state tuition based on their academic performance and potential to succeed here at the College.
Waivers are granted based off of a combination of academic GPA and test scores.
