The College of Coastal Georgia has moved up in its ranking as a veteran-friendly campus. Each year, Military Times recognizes America’s best institutions for veterans in its “Best for Vets: Colleges” rankings. The College placed 110 in the nation for 2019 and currently stands at 81 for Best for Vets: Colleges 2020. Coastal Georgia also ranked third in the state of Georgia.
For each of the past 10 years, Military Times has conducted an extensive study that evaluates what makes colleges and universities a good fit for service members, military veterans, and their families. Hundreds of intuitions from across the country were evaluated in five main categories: university culture, student support, academic policies, academic outcomes/quality, and cost and financial aid. Other factors considered included 2018 enrollment, the presence of a center for veterans, GI Bill gap coverage, and more.
Coastal Georgia offers resources for veterans at both the Brunswick campus and Camden Center, such as the veterans’ study lounges and the student organization Veterans Academic Learning Opportunities and Resources, also known as VALOR. The dedicated Veterans Services staff works to engage veterans—who represent all branches of the armed forces, including active and inactive reserve units—in campus-wide programs and activities that enhance their college experience.
