As a student at Coastal Georgia, you will have the opportunity to work with faculty to engage in Undergraduate Research. Through these experiences, you will be mentored and supported to engage in inquiry and investigation with the goal of delivering a creative contribution in a discipline.
Students who engage in undergraduate research often present the results from their original work at local and national conferences, and have opportunities to submit their work for publication in academic journals. Undergraduate research can be completed as an academic or extracurricular experience, and can take a faculty or student-led approach.
The goal of the Undergraduate Research Fund is to supplement travel for presentation of papers or projects at research conferences and meetings, or it may be used to purchase materials to support student research. Undergraduate research funds are administered by the ENDEAVOR Center for High Impact Practices. Award decisions are made by the Undergraduate Research Advisory Board based on availability of resources. Students may receive up to $400.
The goal of the USG STEM Research Stipend is to support student research by providing additional funds to ease the financial burdens of in-depth research. These supplemental funds are paid out at $10/research hour (up to 100 hours/$1,000) in the semester that the student has been awarded the stipend.
The goal of the STEM Mini-Grant is to support undergraduate research by eliminating financial barriers to authentic research projects at the College of Coastal Georgia through providing funds (up to $1,000) to purchase materials necessary for student research. These funds will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate need for necessary reagents/consumables in the lab, field gear for ecological and environmental research, access to crowdsourced survey participants required for psychology research, or other materials and technology.
