TEMPE, Ariz. – For the second time this season, Matthew Hulme is an All-American.
The Coastal Georgia men’s tennis standout earned 2018 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American honors for singles, which was announced by the organization on Wednesday afternoon. He is the first Mariner in program history to achieve ITA All-American status.
In May, Hulme became the third Mariner to be named an All-American by the NAIA. However, he was the first one to earn First-Team Honors.
In order to earn ITA All-American status, student-athletes must rank in the top 20 of the final Oracle/ITA NAIA Men’s Rankings. Hulme finished the 2018 season ranked No. 4 in the singles poll that was released on May 23.
Hulme went 16-0 during the spring season, all of which was played on the No. 1 court. He earned The Sun Conference’s Freshman of the Year honor and was selected First-Team All-Conference. He was also a two-time Player of the Week selection for The Sun Conference.
