Sarah Gilliard became the all-time winningest player in the history of the College of Coastal Georgia women’s golf program Tuesday as she medaled at the Golden Tiger Invitational hosted by Brenau University in Gainesville.

Gilliard and her team of Mariners also topped the field at Chicopee Woods Golf Club, totaling a 36-hole total of 667, 12 shots ahead of runner-up Southeastern University.

The Mariners entered Tuesday’s second round in second place and put together a solid second-day outing in unfavorable conditions. They totaled a 336 to follow up Monday’s 331. After a first-round 77, Gilliard held things together to card an 80 for a 157 total on Tuesday to win by three shots over Andrea Lopez of Southeastern. It was the junior’s seventh career win for Coastal, surpassing the mark of six set by current assistant coach Christian Liggin, and her third victory of the season.

It was also the third win of the season for the Mariners as a team. Madison Manning finished alone in third on the individual leaderboard with a two-day total of 166. Jessica Whitteker finished at 170 for the Mariners, and freshmen London Stuckey and Nicole Pickett each turned in two-day totals of 176 to round out the Coastal scoring.

The Golden Tiger invite marked the final regular season event for the Mariners, who will look to defend their title at the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament April 18-19 in Montgomery, Ala.
