The College of Coastal Georgia invites the Brunswick-Golden Isles and campus community to the ribbon cutting of the Terry Thomas Teaching Kitchen on Friday, March 7, starting at 4 p.m. at 1407 Union Street, formerly The Village Oven. The Thomas Kitchen is the new dedicated teaching space for students in the College’s culinary arts program.
In 2023, the College of Coastal Georgia Foundation acquired the building to be used as a teaching kitchen/lab for culinary students. The location of the facility will give students more opportunities to participate in internships and educational experiences at local restaurants, hotels, resorts, and other culinary establishments. Students will develop industry connections, refine their skills, and gain real-world insights.
The Terry Thomas Foundation, a long-time supporter of the College, presented a gift to the institution for the expansion of the culinary arts program and the hospitality and tourism management program, located at the facility. Their generosity helped support the necessary improvements and renovations to transform the teaching space.
Attendees of the ribbon cutting will be able to tour the Thomas Kitchen and enjoy refreshments prepared by culinary students.
