College of Coastal Georgia’s cyber defense students achieved impressive results at the CyberSEED 2024 competition held on March 23, 2024. Held annually and hosted by the Connecticut Advanced Computing Center (CACC), CyberSEED attracts top-tier talent from universities nationwide. This year’s event featured a total of 96 teams, each vying for the top 10 positions.
Against tough competition, two cyber defense teams demonstrated their skills by clinching the No. 18 and No. 20 spots.
“This achievement not only displays the caliber of education and training provided by the College, but also the dedication and hard work exhibited by our students,” said Dr. Nelbert “Doc” St. Clair, faculty advisor for the College of Coastal Georgia’s Cyber Defense program.
St. Clair expressed his pride in the students’ performance.
“We are small fish swimming in a big pod! Placing 18th and 20th out of 96 teams is a remarkable accomplishment, and speaks volumes about the quality of education and hands-on experience they receive here at Coastal Georgia,” he said
The Cyber Defense program at the College provides students with a comprehensive understanding of cybersecurity principles, hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies, and opportunities to participate in competitions and real-world projects. This holistic approach equips graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in the rapidly evolving field of cybersecurity.
