Student Fees Reduced at Coastal Georgia

The College of Coastal Georgia remains committed to providing an accessible, affordable, high-quality education for students, which is why The JAMES Magazine ranked the College the best value of all colleges in the state. Beginning in Fall 2022 the College will continue to extend savings to its students with a reduction in fees.

The University System of Georgia Board of Regents voted in April to eliminate one of the mandatory fees, and the Georgia State Legislatures also approved it for the fiscal year 2023. The Board established this Special Institutional Fee in 2009 to provide financial support for high-quality academic programs and operations during the reductions in state funding caused by the recession.  

The removal of the fee will save Coastal Georgia students $225 per semester, and for the fifth time in seven years, tuition will not be increased. With no change to the tuition rate and reduction in fees, the cost of full-time, in-state students will be $2,062 per semester or $4,124 per year. 

“We are so pleased to share this news with our students. Every student deserves to reach their full potential, and often, financial hardships can hinder that,” said College of Coastal Georgia President Michelle Johnston. “With more than 85 percent of students receiving some type of financial aid or scholarships, the cost of a college degree is more manageable for families as we remain sensitive to the expense of tuition and fees.”
