Good Afternoon, Colleagues.
We hope that many of you have power by now, but I know that we have many areas within Glynn County and beyond that are without power, cell service, or internet. Considering the continued recovery efforts, and to support you and your families, we have decided that all classes will be cancelled for Tuesday, October 1 at both the Brunswick campus and Camden Center. Additionally, the College will run on reduced operations. Only essential personnel may be asked to work Tuesday. Your supervisors will contact you directly if you are needed for on campus work/telework. Please watch for communication from payroll about reporting your time.
Communication to faculty/staff from the interim president; Saturday, Sept. 28, 2024, at 5:31 p.m.
Good afternoon, Mariners.
We hope that you are continuing to be safe as we navigate the aftermath of the storm. Although Hurricane Helene has moved out of the region, we’re still dealing with impacts to the area, such as downed trees and limbs, power outages in parts of several counties, and limited internet and cell service. We understand that many of you are still without power, are cleaning up debris, and road access may be limited in some areas. We have limited internet capabilities on campus and we have two chillers down, limiting our ability to cool all buildings. We have decided that for Monday, September 30, all classes will be cancelled at both the Brunswick campus and Camden Center, and the College will have reduced operations. Only essential personnel may be asked to work Monday. Your supervisors will contact you directly if you are needed for on campus work/telework. Please watch for communication from payroll about reporting your time.
We are continuing to monitor the impact of the storm in Glynn and Camden Counties and will notify you if there are additional changes to the campus schedule and operations. Your safety remains our top priority, and I encourage everyone to heed the advice and warnings of local emergency management agencies and adjust, as necessary. Glynn County has announced a mandatory curfew for tonight from midnight to 7 am Sunday.
Please do not hesitate to contact me or your supervisor if you have any questions or concerns.
Communication to faculty/staff from the interim president; Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at 12:26 p.m.
Good afternoon.
I hope you all weathered the storm safely. Campus had a lot of tree limbs down and several trees blown over. There is no damage to any of the buildings that we have found. Our Physical Plant Team and Campus Safety have done a wonderful job and are continuing to clean up campus.
I know that many of you are without power and are in debris cleanup mode. Please take care and let me know if there is anything we can do to help you.
Continue to be safe and take care.
Communication to parents from the vice president of student affairs; Friday morning, Sept. 27, 2024,
Hello everyone,
Campus has fared very well during the storm. There are some trees and limbs down. Power is on at Lakeside and Mariner Village residence halls, but is out at our off-campus housing.
Dining will be serving brunch at 11:00 a.m. as scheduled.
Internet and cell service is out on campus and across most of Glynn County, which may cause difficulty in reaching your students.
If you have specific concerns about your student, we are happy to follow up. Let us know how we can help.

Good afternoon, Mariner Family.
I hope you all have been able to stay safe during this time. With the passing of Tropical Storm Debby from the area, the College will resume normal operations Wednesday. Employees are directed to report to work tomorrow morning as usual, unless otherwise directed by their supervisor.
On campus we had minimal damage. There are a few buildings that had roof leaks, but our Physical Plant team is already addressing those issues and cleaning up the water/damage. It appears that no offices were impacted by leaks. We do have three pine trees down on campus…one near the church and two near Lakeside. You may notice yellow caution tape around some areas on campus, mostly for broken branches still in trees. Please avoid those areas until Physical Plant can address the issue. Our teams are working to ensure the grounds and facilities at both the Brunswick campus and Camden Center are safe for your return, and that there are no issues with network connectivity. A big thank you to our Physical Plant, Campus Police, and IT folks for all you have done and are doing to take care of campus. You are all amazing!!!
Your personal safety always comes first, so please use extreme caution when traveling on the roads. We understand that some individuals may be facing challenging situations in relation to the storm. Supervisors are encouraged to accommodate those who may be having difficulties.
We look forward to seeing you back on campus. Continue to stay safe everyone.
